A Matter of Perfection: The Bird Martini

A Matter of Perfection: The Bird Martini

A Matter of Perfection: The Bird Martini

We do not know who authored the first Martini. But by the early 1900s, iterations that would be familiar to the modern drinker — a large volume of gin paired with a much smaller volume of dry vermouth gained popularity.

And so, the Martini was born, with its preparation continually adapting to the preferences—or, depending on one's view. A martini is more than a cocktail; when you start the evening with a good martini, the evening holds promise. Bird in Copenhagen is known to serve a good martini and is often considered one of the city's finest. The bar defies convention, with walls adorned in vinyl records, creating the vibe of a vinyl lounge that happens to serve outstanding cocktails.

Now, you can create the Martini served at Bird in your home. The recipe runs thus.

It's been a blessing to balance the truth of my dreams with the resilience to believe I’m capable, even when no one else can see it. Getting that camera was my first real sign that I could do this—that it was possible.

60ml Gin

20ml Dry Vermouth

1 dash of Orange Bitters

Zest a lemon peel or green olive on top

Add all ingredients to a stirring glass filled with ice, stir for around thirty seconds, and double strain into a glass. Zest a lemon peel or olive on top of the drink and serve.
